The distinct advantages of liquid color are short lead times and
economics. Liquid carrier systems are lower in cost than the resin
systems they go in. Besides eliminating inventory, the set-up cost
and machine time to produce liquid dispersions are less than half of
that required to manufacture color concentrate.
Extremely
fine dispersions of pigments and dyes can be achieved in liquid color
systems through mechanical roll or ball milling. We currently
incorporate nano particle dispersions of a wide variety of pigments and
additives such as clay, titanium, calcium, talc, bromine and antimony.
Many chemical additives for polymers are liquids. UV inhibitors,
anti-stats, lubricants, silicone, heat stabilizers and plasticizers can
be metered in their liquid forms. Foaming agents, corrosion
inhibitors, and other solid (dry) additives can be put into suspension
or solution and may be metered in with or without color.
Peacock Colors has formulas for polycarbonate, polyesters including PET, PETG and BPT, nylon, acetal and PVC as well as the standard liquid color systems for commodity resins.
